SCHOOL DELAYS & CLOSINGS

Inclement Weather Decision Making-

When STM is faced with the decision to alter the school day and/or close due to inclement weather, we consider many factors. 

  1. We first look at our public school districts and the transportation they will provide. We prioritize the decisions being made by the three largest school districts (Salisbury, Parkland, East Penn). 

  2. We will typically follow the decision of at least two out of the three school districts. In past years, this process was easier since our local school districts followed each others’ decisions. This is no longer the case.

  3. We strongly consider our own community, parents, and students and any impacts the decision would make. 

  4. When we make the decision to close, we then need to determine whether we will follow a Flexible Instruction Day Schedule or Snow Day.  WE WILL NO LONGER FOLLOW SALISBURY TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT TO DETERMINE FLEX DAY VS. SNOW DAY.  


 

How we communicate delays and closings to our families and staff-

  • The STM text, email and phone messages via Sapphire (please keep your contact information and notification alerts updated).

  • The posts on WFMZ  


 

When a decision is made to alter our school day.

STM will always send a direct message via Sapphire to our parents. 


 

Non-Public Transportation (Bussing)- 

If your child takes the bus to and from school, please monitor your home district posts as well. The public school districts will post whether or not they will be providing “non-public transportation”. If STM is open and your home district is closed, you will need to provide transportation to and from school for that day. If you are not able to provide the transportation, your child will receive an excused absence due to inclement weather.

 

TWO HOUR DELAY DETAILS:

    Extended Care opens at 7:30.

    Our school lunch is available for purchase.

 

EARLY DISMISSAL DETAILS:

    Extended Care closes two hours after the established STM dismissal time.

    We will provide time for students to eat lunch prior to leaving school, if possible.

    All Extra Curricular Activities are canceled.

 

SCHOOL CLOSURE DETAILS:

    Extended Care is closed.

    All Extra Curricular Activities are canceled. 

 

Flexible Instruction Day Schedule

Classroom Teachers will be sharing all necessary information regarding a Flex Day with parents via their weekly newsletter.

Expectations for all students: 

**Students in grades 1-8 need to wear STM regular uniform shirt.

  • Must be logged into Gmail

  • Join the meeting on time. 

  • Join the meeting from the link in Seesaw (K-5) or from Google Classroom Class page (6-8). 

  • Keep your audio muted unless asked to speak. 

  • Keep your camera turned on. 

  • Use the “hand” symbol to raise your hand and wait for the teacher to call on you. 

  • Do not share your screen unless asked to do so by the teacher. 

  • Do not use emojis and do not use chat features. 

  • You may only use Google Meet with your teacher on Flexible Instruction Days. 

  • The same classroom expectations in your classroom apply when we are virtual.
